Robert C. Orr has been reappointed to lead the University of Maryland School of Public Policy for another five-year term. Mary Ann Rankin, senior vice president and provost at the University of Maryland made the announcement on Monday, July 8.
The reappointment came as a result of a positive comprehensive five-year performance review, chaired by Dr. Boris Lushniak, Dean of the School of Public Health.
“The report praised many areas of achievement, including Dean Orr’s prestigious external connections; his good relationships with campus leadership, donors and other internal and external constituencies; his ability to speak compellingly on a variety of current and salient policy topics; his political acumen; and his efforts to enhance diversity among SPP’s students, staff and faulty,” Rankin said in her announcement to the SPP community. “Under his leadership, the stature and prestige of the School has been elevated. He has pursued a remarkably successful fundraising effort, even providing a pathway to a new building.”
Dean Orr started his first term at the School in 2014. His reappointment is effective July 1, 2019.
