A unique feature of our work is a global philanthropy and NGO leadership effort. This growing area immerses and engages graduate and undergraduate students in major international philanthropic and NGO leadership issues throughout the world. Through a variety of learning and development experiences, students are equipped to make a significant difference around the globe. The program offers multiple compelling field-based abroad experiences offered through the School of Public Policy.
In January 2014, we embarked on our first abroad program in the Middle East. Students learned about the complexities of global philanthropy and NGO leadership in Israel and Jordan and our program helped launch an Institute for Law and Philanthropy at Tel Aviv University. In January 2015, we led our first study abroad program to India in partnership with the Grameen Foundation. After virtually consulting with an NGO for more than four months, students spent approximately three weeks in Delhi, India providing direct project assistance to NGO clients connected with Grameen while also meeting with NGOs and public leaders. As part of this partnership, one graduate of the School annually earns a highly sought after year-long paid international fellowship with the Grameen Foundation.
