U.S. News & World Report has ranked the University of Maryland School of Public Policy No. 25 among graduate public affairs programs, with high marks in homeland security and public finance and budgeting. The ranking reflects the School’s leadership in policy and governance and its continued focus on serving the public good.
“We are pleased to see the School recognized among the top public policy programs in the country,” said School of Public Policy Dean Gustavo Flores-Macías. “Our goal is to prepare students to think critically about complex problems, from local issues to global challenges, and to engage through policy research and real-world experiences.”
The School’s approach to policy analysis, interdisciplinary research and real-world application prepares students to engage with the issues shaping communities at every level. Hands-on learning and close engagement with policy work beyond the classroom are central to the School’s programs. Students build experience through internships, research and direct exposure to policymaking in Washington, D.C. and Annapolis. Faculty bring backgrounds in government, nonprofit organizations and the private sector, offering students both academic grounding and practical perspective throughout the program.
The School’s programs were also recognized in several specialty areas, including No. 3 in homeland security and emergency management, No. 11 in public finance and budgeting and No. 26 in nonprofit management.
