Thomas Bennett is a Research Assistant for the Do Good Institute in the School of Public Policy. His work involves working collaboratively on nonprofit and social impact research with faculty and other research assistants. Additionally, his projects include data collection and evaluation work on the educational outcomes of the institute’s programs and trainings. Through his efforts in these projects, Bennett aims to expand on the current research literature related to nonprofits and volunteering, while simultaneously striving to help the institute develop students as community leaders.
Before working with the Do Good Institute, Bennett worked as the summer operations coordinator for Georgetown University to coordinate close to 90 nonprofit clients. Prior to this, he worked as a research assistant in the Development, Risk, & Resiliency Lab at Penn State while being engaged in various community nonprofits for over 2 years. Bennett graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 2023 with a B.S. in Psychology. During his time in undergrad, he developed a passion for organizational leadership and development through involvements in arts administration, teaching and research. He hopes to continue this passion by eventually pursuing a higher degree related to these topics. As a DC resident, in his free time he enjoys dancing, being physically active and is a foodie who loves to give and take recommendations.
