As the international community reflects on the implementation of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and begins discussions about the future global sustainable development agenda beyond 2030, this study is the first to provide a comprehensive look into city progress over the last decade with expanded indicator coverage. The report offers a comprehensive assessment framework based on the globally recognized SDG framework, finding that cities have often made greater progress toward national goals compared to their national counterparts, but have yet to meet any of the SDGs. Additional case studies in the report examine how each city has made progress toward addressing the three areas: flood resilience, vehicle congestion management, and green building.
