Camille (Cam) Wejnert-Depue is a PhD student at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy. His research will primarily be with the Center of Global Sustainability working on global and domestic decarbonization pathways and policies and using the Global Change Analysis Model (GCAM) as a methodology for analysis. Wejnert-Depue is originally from Ithaca, NY, and moved to the DMV for his undergraduate studies at American University in 2016. He continued his graduate studies at American in the Master of Public Policy program.
Over the past two years, Wejnert-Depue worked as a post-master’s research associate with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and Joint Global Change Research Initiative based out of College Park, MD. His work at the lab focused on modeling domestic and international climate and decarbonization policies and pathways in multiple sectors, including agriculture and energy, using GCAM. Regionally, my focus is widespread, including research on environmental decarbonization and sustainability policies in the United States and Europe. His most recent research focus has been modeling decarbonization pathways for Ukraine's heating subsector using District Heating. Wejnert-Depue's interest recently shifted to coupling sustainability and decarbonization policy with energy security and human well-being.
On weekends, Wejnert-Depue enjoys spending time outdoors. In the fall, spring and summer, he plays tennis, hikes and takes trips to the beach. In the winter, he enjoys downhill and cross-country skiing and playing
recreational hockey. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Wejnert-Depue reinvigorated his interest in classical piano and artwork, which he continues practicing.
